WORK WITH US
Parrot Ox is on the hunt for a producer. If you back bold ideas and thrive on the impossible, we want to hear from you.
Parrot Ox is an international producing company that brings bold, imaginative theatrical work to audiences around the world.
We're a paradox by name and by nature — small enough to know every crew member on a first-name basis, ambitious enough to have worked on every continent bar Antarctica (still trying). We take contradictions and turn them into great theatre: outdoor spectacles for 50,000 people, gig theatre in dive bars, nine-month tours, West End transfers, and actors running on treadmills every night for four months Off Broadway.
This is a small, hands-on team. We roll up our sleeves and sweat the details in pursuit of a good story.
We take the work seriously.
We don't take ourselves too seriously.
15+ years in this business, we still get a kick out of turning "that's impossible" into opening night.
Key Responsibilities
Production and Project Management
Lead or support the production process on assigned projects. Build and manage production schedules and timelines. Coordinate and communicate with creative teams, technical crews, venues, and presenting partners. Identify and troubleshoot risks and logistical challenges as they arise.
Financial Management
Develop, maintain, and reconcile production budgets. Process and track invoices and payments in liaison with the Parrot Ox team. Support funding applications and acquittals as required.
Contracts and Legal
Draft and negotiate contracts with artists, venues, and partners. Ensure productions comply with relevant workplace health and safety, visa, and insurance requirements.
Development and Strategy
Contribute to the development and assessment of new projects. Research presenters, markets, and opportunities to grow Parrot Ox's touring portfolio. Support grant applications and funding strategies in collaboration with the wider team.
Core Producing Skills
Budget management across multiple concurrent projects. Production scheduling and critical path management for touring work. Familiarity with the international touring and festival landscape is an advantage. Understanding of visas, freight, carnets, and cross-border logistics for touring productions is an advantage. Experience reading and writing contracts.
Relationship and Communication
A warm, confident communicator who builds trust quickly — with artists, presenters, venues, and crew. Skilled at reading a room and adapting their tone, whether that's asking an artist for their personal information or talking a presenter through logistics.
WORKING STYLES + ATTRIBUTES
▷ You do your taxes on time and pack your lunch for work.
▷ You carry a bag that weighs almost as much as you because "what if I need it."
▷ You love a system and a process.
▷ When you're donating clothes to charity, you drop them off straight away, not drive around with them in your car for a month first.
▷ You listen to understand, because processes have to work for the people using them, and people can be wild cards.
▷ You take instruction quickly and can deal confidently with change.
▷ You double check the coffee order/shopping list first — measure twice, cut once.
▷ You're the one who spots the missing comma or the spelling mistake on a menu.
▷ You're unafraid to ask a stupid question and admit to mistakes.
▷ You manage your time/workload without someone looking over your shoulder.
▷ Your computer desktop is clean, you file your email, and you love the satisfaction of putting something back where it belongs.
▷ You don't panic in the face of stress — you make a plan.
▷ While you don't mind coming up with a strategy, you truly love pushing a task through to completion and getting things done.
On the flip side, we're not worried:
▷ If you've worked jobs in five different industries.
▷ That you have a break or gap on your CV.
▷ If you have five university degrees or didn't finish school.
▷ What you look like or where you're from.
THE ROLE
We're looking for a Producer to join the Parrot Ox team on a part-time basis. Starting at three days per week, with scope to increase over 2027. We tour work all over the world, which means communicating across time zones.
The role needs flexible hours, but we encourage autonomy in setting your own and managing your time.
You'll work closely with Executive Producer Lauren Eisinger and Senior Producer Dans Maree Sheehan across a portfolio of live productions and touring projects.
We run a remote office and connect on digital platforms, so you'll work from any location of your choosing, so long as you have reliable internet and phone coverage.
Remuneration is $70,000–$80,000 + Super pro rata.
Salary negotiated commensurate with experience.

A note on applying: statistically, women, gender diverse people, and those from marginalised or Global Majority communities underestimate their skill, achievements and worthiness when assessing suitability for potential jobs.
