Ten years ago, a group of strangers turned up to adelaide fringe festival with a show that needed a total blackout and a venue that very much wasn't one.
This is where the belief and the gumption started. And it grew up into Parrot Ox.
Parrot Ox exists in the badlands beyond genre, producing work that makes the impossible feel inevitable. The spark began with one show and a willingness to solve the next problem and the next.
Ten years since that first visit to Adelaide Fringe, that philosophy hasn't changed.

Ten years ago, Adelaide Fringe is where we worked out what lights us on fire and what we stand for.
Not in a strategy meeting. In a tent, with a venue that wasn't quote right, a deadline that wasn't moving, and a team who decided to solve the problem instead of cancelling the show. That's where the philosophy got forged — find the right people, believe in the same impossible thing, and do whatever it takes to get it in front of an audience.
Over a decade on, we're back at Adelaide Fringe, doing more impossible things.
DOCOFEST is our way of marking that. Not a highlight reel of ten years in business — a proper look at the chapter that started it all, told by the people who were actually there.
