Wright&Grainger
ORPHEUS &
EURYDICE
Nearly a decade and 650+ performances in, Wright&Grainger’s spoken-word retelling of the Orpheus myth — now paired with Eurydice’s side of the story — keeps winning awards.
-
Since its creation in 2016, Orpheus has played more than 650 shows around the world — in festivals, cafés, gardens, railway arches, bars, tents, churches, yoga studios, boats, record shops, breweries, loft apartments and, very occasionally, a theatre. Eurydice, written in 2018, tells the same story from the other side, handing agency to a voice traditionally left passive and silent. The double bill — live electronica, soaring spoken word and now a live string quartet and vocal ensemble — has become one of the most traveled and most awarded shows on the contemporary spoken-word circuit.
